We have funded the Committee of Development and Implementation Tempisque Arenal Basin (CIDECAT) the balance of the money it needed to complete a study to determine the vulnerability of the aquifers and geological formations in the Arenal Reserve Basin.   In partnership with the Central American School of Geology at the University of Costa Rica, the team is studying the delicate balance of this critical eco-system.  The studies are concentrating on volcanic and geological issues, aquifer vulnerability and the effect of landslides on the environment.

The raw data collected by the students will serve as a depository of information for many organizations to access as the Country tries to establish policies and directives that will maintain and preserve this beautiful reserve.
